- Cook the chopped brussel sprouts in boiling salt water for about 8 minutes until slightly tender.
- While the sprouts are cooking, in a separate pan saute the onions in the butter.
- Add in the bacon, cheeses, and pepper flakes. Stir continually until you get a nice melted cheesy texture.
- In a casserole dish, mix the brussel sprouts and the cheese sauce together. Top with the fried onions or bread crumbs (If you want....) and bake covered at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. If you chose to put a topping on, remove the cover and place back in the oven for 5 minutes to crisp up the top.
THIS DISH WAS FANTASTIC! I feel like I say that about every dish. But trust me, this one REALLY is! It was pretty fast to make too! Be sure to try this one out, for sure. You will not be disappointed.
(Also….I was so wrapped up on making this, I didn’t get all the pictures I wanted…oops!)
So I started with cooking the chopped brussel sprouts. I put them in a pot with some salt water and cook for about 8 minutes. You want them mostly cooked. The crunch is what you are looking for but not raw. Slightly tender.
