  1. Cook the chopped brussel sprouts in boiling salt water for about 8 minutes until slightly tender.
  2. While the sprouts are cooking, in a separate pan saute the onions in the butter.
  3. Add in the bacon, cheeses, and pepper flakes. Stir continually until you get a nice melted cheesy texture.
  4. In a casserole dish, mix the brussel sprouts and the cheese sauce together. Top with the fried onions or bread crumbs (If you want….) and bake covered at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. If you chose to put a topping on, remove the cover and place back in the oven for 5 minutes to crisp up the top.
