I love being able to share recipes with my family that bring back memories of cold winter days, growing up. I loved playing outside in the cold and snow and coming inside where Mom had poured us a cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows! One of my favorite memories and recipes! This recipe isn’t some family secret. It literally came off the Hershey Cocoa Powder container. But, that doesn’t mean it isn’t tasty. It is wonderful! Nothing fancy, yet still brings back those memories every time I enjoy a cup.
First measure out your sugar and cocoa. I whisk these two ingredients together.
Then add your water and really give everything a good stir.
Now it is time to add the milk. Again, whisk the ingredients together. Cook the cocoa on medium. Stir occasionally. Remember, there is sugar in this and sugar likes to burn. Cook until all the sugar is dissolved. After the hot cocoa is removed from the heat, add the Vanilla!
You can keep on warm while you enjoy the hot cocoa or you can remove from the heat and just heat up a cup at a time. Try making some Homemade Marshmallows to go with your cup of hot cocoa!
What are your some of your favorite memories from cold winter days?
