DIY Rice A Roni

Ingredient List

1 C Rice

1/3 C Broken Spaghetti

2 C Chicken Broth

3 Tb. Butter

1 1/2 Tsp Parsley

1/2 Tsp Garlic

1/4 Tsp Salt

1/8 Tsp Pepper

1/4 Tsp Onion Powder

I am always am looking for new ways to make pantry staples. Rice A Roni has always been one of those staples. I decided to come up with a recipe that I can make at home with out the worry of going to the store to get the wonderful side dish or even making sure I have it at home. Here is how I made the dish!

I started by melting 3 tablespoons of butter in a heavy bottom pot.

I then broke up the spaghetti and put it in the butter to allow the noodles to get a nice toasty flavor and color to them. TIP- I always save the crumbs of my noodles for this purpose. Keep a plastic baggy of the crumbs for the next time you make this.

Once the noodles are toasted add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil. Return to a simmer and allow the noodles and the rice to cook all the way through. Sometimes you may need to cover the pot. It just depends on the rice, pot and stove.

Once the fluid is cooked all the way and the noodles and rice are cooked all the way, serve it up! It makes a FANTASTIC side dish for chicken and fish!
