Ingredient List

About 1 LB. of Asparagus

1 1/2 C Flour

1/2 C Parmesan Cheese

1 Tsp. Seasoning Salt

1 1/2 C Buttermilk

1 1/2 C Ranch Dressing

1/2 Tsp. Paprika

1/2 Tsp. Chili Powder

This has got to be my all time favorite appetizer. I Love Fried Asparagus and Fried Zucchini. This recipe is great for either. It is truly a crowd pleaser. Here is how I make it!

I start by prepping my ingredients. I start with trimming the woody ends off of the asparagus.

Next I set up my dredging station. I have the flour mixed with the seasoning salt, the butter milk and then the Parmesan and Asiago cheese mixed together. Now that this station is set up, I can start dredging. I first dunk the asparagus in the buttermilk, then the flour mixture, then the buttermilk again and then in the cheese.

I got through this motion until all the asparagus has been prepared. I let the asparagus rest for 5 minutes while my oil is heating in a pan or dutch oven or deep fryer. You want the oil to heat to 350 degrees.

Place a few pieces of asparagus in the oil at a time. Allow the asparagus to cook for about 5 minutes. Remove and place on a paper towel to cool. Repeat until all the asparagus is cooked.

I make the dipping sauce as the asparagus is cooking. It is just the ranch dressing mixed with the paprika and chili powder. Give it a good stir and set aside.

After the asparagus is cooked, I place on a serving tray or plate and then top with grated Asiago Cheese. Serve with the dipping sauce and enjoy!
