Meatballs have almost become a lost art in the kitchen. Most people just buy them already made for the sake of ease and quickness. I will be honest, meatballs are messy to make! But the work that it takes to make them is well worth the aggravation. And not to mention the full flavor! Here is how I make my meatballs!
I start by mixing the dry ingredients together in a bowl. Spices, Parm. cheese, and bread crumbs.
Now add the meats, eggs, and Worcestershire Sauce. Get your hands in the mix and start combining the ingredients. Do not over mix the goo though. That will make for tough meatballs.
In a warm skillet, place your formed meatballs. You are going to cook the meatballs until the are browned on all sides or parts. Remember to leave enough room for the meatballs so they have area to be rotated around. After they are cooked, remove the meatballs and drain any grease from the skillet.
Once the extra grease has been removed and the meatballs have drained, place them back into your cast iron skillet. Now cover them with your marinara sauce. I cover the skillet with a loose piece of foil so the sauce doesn’t splatter all over the oven and make a mess. Place the skillet in a 375 degree oven for about 20 minutes or until the meat balls are fully cooked.
I then remove the skillet from the oven and sprinkle the Mozzerella cheese all over the top of the meatballs. I place the skillet back in the oven until the cheese is melted. It should only take about 5 more minutes.
Now you can serve this wonderful goodness over some noodles or make some meatball sandwiches for the family!
